Hello hello!
What a wonderful journey throughout Tibet!
Amazing landscapes, wonderful blue lakes, crazy Mount Everest.
To tell the truth I was very desappointed with Lhasa. I don't know how it was before but it's now a Chinese town with some good things (electricity, roads, water, supermarket), and lots of bad things (noise, traffic, many shops, many hotels, lots of people...).
I was completely in shock when I saw the Chinese flag on the top oh the Potala! A way to say "it belongs to US!" Mmmmm, not really...
But what to say about pilgrims & Tibetans living around Lhasa, who pray at the Jokhang Temple everyday? It was beautiful to see them! Lots of emotions! A strong smell of butter all around the temple also ;-)
2 days in Lhasa, time to leave, and to get closer to the Nepalese border.
The strongest moment was the day before we crossed the border, when we saw The Mount Everest! YES I saw it! I was at 5300m high and in front of me stands the highest mountains in the world (almost 8900m). Very impressive! You fell very very small at that time.
When I think some people hike to the top of the Everest, they must be crazy... but what a challenge!
Great tour with great people (a swiss family). My only regret is to have not been able to meet and talk with Tibetans (except in Lhasa). I mean a real talk, not 2 mn here and there. Will need to come back...
And I finally got to Nepal 2 days ago.
First impresion: It's so SO like India: women clothes, people faces, temples, traffic, noises, kindness, cost living, cut power, tolerance between the different religions...
The Indian culture is strongly present in Nepal, but I have a couple of weeks to figure out the differences between Nepal and Indian. As a Nepalese guy told me "Yes, IT IS DIFFERENT"
Will see...
